It takes about 50 energetic, outgoing people to run the Laugh for Life Gala so this is a great opportunity for you to have a blast and help raise funds for charity! Please review the volunteer positions and then fill out the Volunteer Application Form. Applications will be accepted until each position is filled, however, those received earlier (before September) will be given first priority. Volunteers are accepted on a first-come, first-chosen basis. We thank all who apply and only those who are candidates will be contacted by Laugh for Life.
Marketing Volunteers
- Distribute posters and postcards to promote the gala.
- Share the gala through social and traditional media contacts. Link to the LFL website with our logo.
Auction Item Collectors
- Find and collect interesting auction items. Minimum retail value $100. Deadline September 15th.
Auction Registration Volunteers
- Need to have neat and legible writing.
- Fill out registration cards accurately.
- Sort registration cards numerically and return cards to auction registration coordinator.
- Direct people to the silent auction items and other features of the evening.
- 2 volunteers act as greeters and ushers directing people to the auction registration table.
- Auction volunteers will also double as payment volunteers at the end of the evening.
VIP Reception Hosts
- Mingle and make VIPs feel welcome and comfortable during the VIP Reception.
VIP Registration Table
- Check VIP name on guest list
- Provide them with a name tag, offer to register the guest for the auction.
- Be familiar with the overall gala night to answer any questions.
Silent Auction Volunteers
- Come early – stay late: Help set up tables and displays for the silent auction items.
- Under the supervision of the Silent Auction Coordinator.
- Stay in stationed area and watch the displays.
- Become familiar with auction items in designated area and answer any questions as they arise…if possible
- After intermission, repackage auction items and taken them to main lobby for pick up.
- Stay at the end of the auction and provide successful bidders with help retrieving their items and the purchasing process. Successful bidders must provide you with a proof of purchase before the item can be taken.
- Be aware of packaging available for items and help bidders when necessary. Packaging should be under the table underneath that specific item.
Security Volunteers
- Watch jewellery (if present in auction).
- Be familiar with the room layout and trouble shoot as necessary.
- Work with the Silent Auction Coordinator.
- Specifically watch at the end of the auction and help with verification of “Claim Checks”.
Payment Volunteers
- Process cash, debit, credit transactions in an efficient and effective manner.
- Complete “Claim Check” form and provide bidder with instructions on retrieving their items.
- Payment volunteers will also double as auction registration volunteers at the start of the evening.
Live Auction Spotter Volunteers
- In designated areas on each level of the chamber. Notify auctioneer when someone is bidding and encouraging a boost of the bids.
Live Auction Note Takers
- In designated areas to record the winning bid on the bid sheets; at the end of the live auction, take the winning bid sheets to the payment coordinator.
